    The Utah Festival Opera performs in the beautifully restored Ellen Eccles Theatre in Logan, Utah. Its stage accommodates all manner of performances, from the most intimate aria or duet, to the grandest spectacle. From the ornate grand foyer to the sweeping balconies, red plush seats, superb sight lines, and flawless acoustics, the Ellen Eccles Theatre is the perfect setting to be carried away to distant lands of passion, drama, intrigue and romance. The Opera will present four dramatic performances in repertory during this summer’s season.* The season exposure is 35,000.

    Taking place over 50 years, Show Boat tells the story of a family of performers living on a river boat and their struggles with gambling, race, infidelity, poverty, and the poison of personal secrets. Take a ride down Ol’ Man River” in this American classic spanning three generations of hope and heartbreak. Show Boat is must-see musical theater.

    Porgy is a crippled man living on Catfish Row who has fallen for Bess – a beautiful but troubled woman. A series of unfortunate events brings them together, but can they overcome their desires and choices to stay together? Porgy & Bess is considered to be America’s greatest opera.

    The legend of Orpheus has captured the imagination of more playwrights and composers than any other source material in history. Orpheus, the god who demonstrates the miraculous power of love and music, makes him the central focus of the new Utah Theatre. Hear the tale told through a variety of renowned composers who have made the legend immortal.

    Come see Puccini’s legendary trilogy featuring three one-act operas. Il Tabarro is a passionate work of realism set on a barge on the Seine near Paris. Suor Angelica is an uplifting tale of religious redemption. The final act is Gianni Schicchi, a farce full of greed and comic conniving starring Michael Ballam in the title role. Rarely seen in its entirety, Puccini’s Trilogy is a can’t-miss on your opera bucket list!.

    The author of The Belle of Amherst, The Last Flapper, Bronte, and Lucifer’s Child takes you backstage at the Metropolitan Opera, Christmas 1920, to meet the greatest tenor in history. You become a reporter conducting an interview in Enrico Caruso’s dressing room as his valet Mario helps him prepare for a performance which, unknown to both men, will be his last. Starring Michael Ballam as Caruso.
