  • The Utah Festival Opera & Musical Theatre celebrates its 25th year. Performances will be held at the beautifully restored Ellen Eccles Theatre in Logan, Utah. Its stage accommodates all manner of performances, from the most intimate aria or duet, to the grandest spectacle. From the ornate grand foyer to the sweeping balconies, red plush seats, superb sight lines, and flawless acoustics, the Ellen Eccles Theatre is the perfect setting to be carried away to distant lands of passion, drama, intrigue and romance. The Opera will present four dramatic performances in repertory during this summer’s season.* The season exposure is 35,000.

    THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME

    Join Quasimodo in the bell tower in this lush retelling of Victor Hugo’s epic story of love, acceptance, and what it means to be a hero. With songs from the Disney animated feature, The Hunchback of Notre Dame will make your heart swell with laughter, tears, and awe. Featuring Disney’s Oscar-nominated score plus new songs by Menken and Schwartz.

    THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE

    The pirates are celebrating young Frederic’s coming-of-age…but he doesn’t want to be a pirate! Instead, he wants the beautiful maiden Mabel’s hand in marriage and to exterminate his prior piratical patriots. The Pirates of Penzance is comical farce and classical operetta at its finest.

    MADAMA BUTTERFLY

    A young Japanese geisha clings to the belief that her arranged marriage with a visiting American naval officer will be loving and permanent. One of Giacomo Puccini’s greatest accomplishments, Madama Butterfly explores themes of cultural and marital imperialism, and the tragic consequences of dashed hopes. Butterfly is a delicate and touching classic.

    Don’t miss this unique opportunity to see this 1976 Broadway musical brought back to life. Rex follows the life and loves of King Henry VIII and his obsession with producing a male heir for his throne. Fully staged and revised by legends Sheldon Harnick (2016 Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement) and Sherman Yellen, with music by Richard Rodgers. Starring Michael Ballam as King Henry VIII.

    THE MUSIC MAN

    Traveling con man Harold Hill arrives in River City hoping to sell marching band uniforms and instruments to unsuspecting Iowans. Librarian Marian Paroo suspects he’s up to no good, so of course they fall in love! Now Harold has some hard decisions to make, but is he prepared to face the music? Winner of 5 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, The Music Man is good ol’-fashioned musical comedy fun!
